Google Ads
A conversion-focused landing page and structured search campaigns, built from scratch for a new Google Ads account, plus clearing Google’s local-service policy hurdles.
The challenge
This garage door business (offering repair, installation, and commercial services) came on board with a very basic website and no real paid-advertising foundation. The existing site lacked the conversion-focused structure that home-services traffic needs: no strong lead-capture path, no persistent call-to-action, nothing to turn an ad click into a phone call or form submission.
On top of that, home services carries additional Google local-service policy and certification requirements before ads can run cleanly. New accounts in this space frequently hit approval friction and policy flags that restrict where and to whom ads can show, a hurdle that stops many campaigns before they gain traction.
Goals
A landing page built to convert, not just inform
Clean approval through Google’s local-service policy
A cost-per-lead trajectory that improves as the account matures
The strategy
Rather than send paid traffic to the basic existing site, I built a new dedicated landing page engineered to convert: a contact form placed prominently in the hero section, a dedicated call-to-action section further down the page, and a sticky header that keeps the phone number, logo, and top bar visible at all times as the visitor scrolls.
Calling is always one tap away, critical for home-services buyers who often want immediate phone contact.
I built out search campaigns covering the full range of services, organizing keywords around repair, installation, and commercial garage door searches. This intent-based structure ensures each ad matches the specific service the searcher is looking for, whether it’s an urgent repair or a planned installation.
Home-services advertising comes with extra compliance hurdles. I handled the certification uploads and verification Google required, and worked through the local-service policy flags that were restricting ad serving, clearing the barrier that commonly stalls new home-services accounts and getting ads approved and serving across all intended locations.
As a newly built account, this program is still in its early ramp. I’m managing it continuously (refining keywords, negatives, and bids) with cost per conversion expected to trend down as the account accumulates data and the campaigns mature.

Key takeaway
For home-services lead generation, results start with the foundation: a conversion-focused landing page and properly structured, intent-based search campaigns, plus the often-overlooked work of clearing Google’s local-service certification and policy requirements. Get those right on a new account, and cost per lead improves steadily from there.
